Having just passed the one year anniversary of when we shut our doors due to COVID-19, we, like much of the world, have found ourselves looking back on the last year reminiscing and remembering. We are so grateful to still be here serving our community and we are humbled as we remember those who have not been so fortunate. The last year has been one of many lessons learned and we wanted to take a minute to share a few with you.
Community Matters: Without our community rallying around us this year and supporting us we may not be here and we are so incredibly grateful to each and every one of you! Your continued support has blown us a way and we can’t wait to see you all back at the Museum!
Inspiration is Everywhere, All the Time: As we all began working and learning from home, we have been amazed watching the creativity and innovation coming from people’s back yards, bedrooms and basements. At SPARK we’ve always celebrated curiosity about the world as the starting point for any scientist. As we’ve been confined to smaller spaces and gotten all too familiar with our immediate surroundings, we’ve seen our community take those circumstances and see the opportunity to grow and create.
Science is for Everyone: We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: anyone can be a scientist. Looking back on this year we find ourselves very much reinvigorated in our commitment to science for all and doing everything we can to make sure everyone can see themselves as a scientist. We’ve always believed it’s important to make sure everyone has access to knowledge and opportunities to explore and discover. As caretakers to such an amazing collection, we hold the responsibility to share it with everyone as an honor. Now more than ever it’s our privilege to make sure that SPARK is accessible and available to anyone and everyone.
