Interested in volunteering?
We have one of the world's largest and most comprehensive collections of historical artifacts pertaining to radio and electricity. We offer several volunteer opportunities to suit everyone's interests. If there's something in particular you would like to do, let us know and we can find a way to include you.
Here are some of our current volunteer opportunities:
Volunteer Coordinator:
We are looking for someone to help with the intake of volunteers, inputting applications, returning phone calls and managing the influx of volunteers that Spark receives. The coordinator will work and consult with the Director Of Operations on a weekly basis.
Museum Docent:
Anyone interested in learning about the collection in order to give guided tours. We will train you on the parts of the collection that interest you. This is a weekly commitment rather than a project-based opportunity.
Theatre People:
We are in the process of developing an amazing electrical show that will premier this fall. We need help in all areas: Stage design, lighting, sound, you name it. A great opportunity for people with the right experience to be part of an awesome production! If you are interested, contact Museum President John Jenkins.
Exhibit Designer:
The Museum presents one of the largest displays of early electrical apparatus in the world. We need help in developing professional, fully interpreted exhibits that will present our objects in an effective, stimulating and educational way.
Front Desk/Receptionist:
As the first and last face visitors see when they enter the Museum, the receptionist plays an incredibly important role. In addition, our receptionist also acts as the salesperson for our Museum store. We are looking for outgoing individuals who can work independently, represent the Museum in a professional manner, and enjoy meeting and engaging with people.
Facilities Support:
We need people to help maintain the museum and help expand our exhibit area. We're looking for a wide range of expertise: painting, carpentry and cabinetry, electrical, along with helping move artifacts and display cases, inventory supplies, etc.
Organizing Our Vast Media Collection:
Our media collection contains practically every form of audio media created from Edison Wax Cylinders to CDs and everything in between. We are looking for people with an interest in preserving, cataloging and digitizing our media collection.
In addition, volunteer opportunities exist with our KMRE, our FM radio station. Click on the link below for details:
